Sorry Country is Full...

Post by Cheshirealleycat » Wed Sep 20, 2006 3:28 am

Call me insane... Im a non white or black for that matter American citizen. Personally I say sorry door's closed... Im cool with student visas and such but for the most part, people are coming over here and sucking resources dry. A problem one of the local hospitals is having over here is the over abundant amount of non American's on Medicade sucking their resources to hell. I believe that non productive members of society shouldnt be allowed in the US anymore. Sorry to say but if you're over 40 and dont come from an exploded country and havent made anything of yourself there you're not gonna make anything of yourself here.

America isnt a new land anymore, we dont need insane amounts of people here. Before we know it we're gonna be like Tokyo but in every city bursting at the seems with people and huge costs of living for a shoe box apt. I say college education to come here please, or military service for citizenship for non natural borned. Look how strict Mexico's immigration policy is, and they're just pouring in. Its madness... I dunno, Im tired of people and my town went from small and quaint to too many people everywhere. Im not a fan...

Also recently it was Mexican flag day, and before that puerto rican flag day. I wave only one flag and its the American flag, if you're gung ho about where you came from and you dont want to learn to speak American... Go back. I know my roots and respect my heritage but America is the country that bore and raised me. If you wanna run down the street screaming waving non american flags seriously go home. Its cool if you happen to have an american flag and say a mexican flag in front of your house. But if you're gonna have a mexican or whatever only flag in front of your house go back, the rules of planting flags on land and them becoming territories is long since over.

One of Google's founder immigrated to the US. One of eBay's founder immigrated to the US. This list can go on.

America needs legal immigrants to get fresh talents. Would you rather have a hard-working immigrant who makes a significant contribution to the society or would you rahter have a drug dealer ruining a neighborhood? Which one stands more for American spirit or values?

There are plenty of opportunities here and immigrants never stop creating new opportunities. All the lazy Americans can do is to whine about how they have lost their jobs. Well, if they get off the couch and get their fat asses moving, they could compete. Trust me, when an American competes with an immigrant, the American has the upper hand. You just have to make sure you don't walk away a loser.

This isn't a bleeping baseball team, it's a country.

If you want "fresh talent," why not make sure that our schools are the highest quality so we can develop our own? Why not let foreigners develop and provide external competition for our people (you know, how the space race got started and launched a generation of NASA workers?)

Do you really think so darned little of your country that we can't produce "talent" that rivals the best in the world????????

Did you ever go to graduate school? A lot of graduate school scholarships are awarded to foreign students. Why? Because many of our lazy-assed students can't compete with those bright students overseas. Bringing them over can only give ourselves a kick in the pants.

As a matter of fact, more and more American workers are finding jobs in India and China. It is a two-way street called global economy.

Er...a lot of graduate school scholarships are awarded to foreigners because the universities like diversity. It has NOTHING to do wtih American students being unable or lazy. And why can't our "lazy-assed" students compete? Why don't we have an education system that can turn out quality, hmmm, Terry?

Yeah, right!!! So the Houston Rockets drafted Yao Ming from China because the team liked diverstiy. That is a very expensive diversity.

I can quote you what I was told by a university professor, "American students don't know how lucky they are." That hit the nail right on the head.

What the hell does a physical abnormality have to do with education? Okay, Terry... I've sat on student boards before. People will bring in foreigners over local kids because they like the diversity. That's a fact of life at American universities.

We're not talking about the Einstein-like geniuses of which there aren't that many, and I'm not saying we shouldn't bring in elite kids who want to study at our top schools. I'm saying our priotiy should be developing our own talent fully (which we don't do) before developing foreigners. Tell me that we're developing our kids to the best of our abilities and you're a bleeping liar.

I'm positive that what your "professor" said was taken out of context.

I have been to 3 major universities in the US, but never heard of such ridiculous thing as getting foreign students to promote diversity.

If you applied to graduate school before, you would have known that the evaluation is based on GRE score, GPA, recommendations, other experience. If a Russian student scores a GRE at 2000 and an American student scores 1500. With other things being relatively non-different, who would you pick? Hear this clearly - no one can afford promoting diversity for the sake of promoting diversity because that is another form of discrimination!

Actually, white American students have sued the graduate schools in California because they claim that too many Asian students are getting accepted for science and engineering programs. The Asian students are outscoring the white American students on college GPA's and GRE entrance exams, so the American kids are crying "foul".

It's a helluva commentary on our current American values when white kids are crying for Affirmative Action because they aren't working hard enough to compete. I guess they figure the Victim's Club will keep accepting new members until we're all in it.

"The country's full"?

I've never heard a more ridiculous thing in my life.

America has plenty of room, I think, to welcome in folks from other countries who:

1) Want a chance at the American dream, and

2) Care enough to immigrate or get a student/worker VISA the legal way.

I celebrate that, because I'm sure my Irish ancestors came to the US that way, and so did just about everyone else's, except for Native Americans. (They were here already.)

What I'm not wild about is ILLEGAL immigration - the folks who don't play by the rules but come into the country illicitly and then get treated better by mindless liberals than the responsible, law-abiding folks who came here legally. Sure, many of them are decent sorts who want a shot at the American dream, too, and that's fine... then come here the legal way, like everyone else, please, and we'll all welcome you onto Team USA!

As for the whole academic performance subject that's come up here, I'm not even sure why we're still breaking down academic performance by race anymore, these days. Anyone who works hard at learning will achieve. Anyone who sluffs off, won't. Everything else is excuse making.

If there's more Asians excelling academically than whites, who cares? Just means they're studying harder. But frankly, I just wish we'd measure academic performance as a country. Why break it down by race, other than to sew division between the races?

Who has time for that? It's a distraction from hard work and achievement, if you ask me.
