Over 33% of American workers didn't take vacations last year. 19% of American workers cancelled their vacation plans last year. On average, American workers gave employers back 4 days of vacation. People who take vacations have higher productivity, but a lot of people are so afraid that they are going to miss something important at work during time-off.
A long weekend doesn't count as a vacation. Your body and mind need a couple of days to unwind first before going into relaxation. A long weekend only gives you time to unwind and you are back in the rat race again.
