Judging by most of the quotes taken from news sites and AP blogs, the spectators snapping photos with their handy-dandy cell phones were praising the coup calling it "exciting" and "much awaited" while Prime Ministers from places like Australia call it a shame.
The funny part is that Thailand's Prime Minister (or should I say ex-prime minister) said on September 11th that a coup wasn't going to happen, but there were a few snakes slithering around hissing suggestions of it.
About two weeks ago I was sucking down my third Long Island Ice Tea in some weird back alley red neck bar when I started a conversation with a construction worker next to me. I found out that he traveled around the world a lot doing construction for his company, and when I asked him where his favorite place was, it wasn't the usual "Italy" or "France" or even "Japan" sort of deal.... it was Thailand. Apparently the people there are very nice, sport a good sense of humor and get offended if you cross your knees while speaking to them (selah).
So, I suppose we'll see how this spans out within the next few weeks, but in my opinion the current Prime Minister declared a state of emergency to a people entirely against him. I don't think they care and, for the record, I don't either. Maybe he crossed his legs, I don' t know.
