A study has shown that social drinkers make more money than non-drinkers. For men, the difference is 19% and women 23%. No explanation as to why. But the bottom line is - if you want to climb up on the corporate ladder or succeed in the business world, you can't do it without the highly needed spirits.

Eh, I think the cause and effect have been reversed here. "Social drinkers" are those who go out and drink. People who can afford to socialize like that are by definition the people who make more money. Otherwise it's like saying "people who are more successful with money drive nicer cars" and assuming that means that driving a nicer car will make you more successful with money.

Maybe the social drinkers have better social skills, which help when kiss-up-to-the-boss is inevitable.

I think social hours and drinking loosen people up and you get to know their "true" personality. It's a good way to get inside your bosses head. I find it a great tool to help at "raise" time. I bet if I did a quick analysis in our office there would be a correlation between the %raise each year compared to the number of social drinking events attended
