Venezuela's president, Hugo Chavez, went off on George Bush in a speech at the U.N. (Sept. 20), repeatedly calling Bush a devil, and saying the smell of sulphur (from Bush's address the previous day) was still in the building.
Perhaps Chavez's words were a bit strong.
But the United Nations is an institution built on high level brown-nosing and boot licking, calling tyrants "his Excellency" and offering all manner of mock respect and costly perks. U.N bodies can spend days arguing about how to arrange the seats around a conference table while thousands more die in this genocide or that genocide.
So, Chavez didn't follow protocol. I say "Ole!" for Hugo.
